from Steve at Puck The Media,
This is Jack Edwards’ call during the Bruins-Flyers game on NESN Sunday. It is simply the craziest thing we have ever heard in our lives. It’s pretty unprofessional, whether or not it’s him being a homer. But it’s still one of the most awesome soundbites of the 2008-09 NHL season.

I’m not laughing with him, I’m laughing at him. That guy sounds like a major league d-bag.

The reason Jack Edwards was eventually ditched by ESPN was because of calls like that during soccer broadcasts.
I’d actually be very surprised with, after the eventful year he’s had of running his mouth, NESN keeps him. Even knowing how much NESN and New Englanders like their idiot broadcasters…
“Unprofessional” doesn’t begin to describe it though. He’s not a color guy even he’s the PBP. It’s supposed to be his job to just relay the game info—thus why there’s a “color” commentator—to add color tot he broadcast.
Problem is, Edwards’ ego outweighs all else.

that hit wasn’t even close to the same magnitude of the Bergeron hit. jack edwards just confirm we already knew about him. seriously how can bruins fan take this seriously?
flyers broadcast was ripping recchi for diving in first period but atleast they didnt stoop to his level.

I have to admit, he does an excellent “deranged mad scientist” laugh.

The guy sounds like he’s totally lost it. Of course, since I’m not a Bruins fan, I don’t know if he ever even had it to begin with. Like someone above said, “unprofessional” doesn’t even begin to describe this.

i thought that was more embrassing than AO’s celebration

I live in Boston and frequently catch Jack Edwards on NESN. He tends to say ridiculous things that he surprisingly isn’t fired for….I think that is because a lot of Bostonians like that sort of stuff. I’d definitely prefer a greater sense of professionalism.

If he were the color guy it’d be fine, but he’s the play by play. Color guys are supposed to say ridiculous things and be major homers for their team, but Jack Edwards just sounds like some drunk B’s fan stumbled into the announcers booth.

Almost as bad as the ducks announcers
