I can’t believe people, not just Richardson, seem to be selling the Blues short. That was a good team least year and with some additional talent back from the long-term IR and coming up through the system, they are only going to get better. As a Canucks fan, the Blues scare me much more than the Blue Jackets.

I can’t believe that people just have no problem simply assuming that Huet’s just magically going to bounce back and be elite after losing the starting job to a goalie that the team had put on waivers, willing to give him up for nothing or even give him up while paying half his salary.

Hey Osgood has made a career of being a starting goalie based on his team having nothing else to throw in net. and when they did (hasek, Joseph) they gave it their best shot knowing that Osgood was just that, Good.

Fair enough, Greg, but Detroit is also a team that is based consistently around team defense. Detroit haven’t NEEDED their goalies to stand on their heads for the past ten+ years. Detroit doesn’t sign $6M+ goaltenders.
When you’re a team that tied up $13M in goaltending last year, you’re not looking for just a good goalie, you’re looking for a goalie that will stand on his head, steal a game here and there and make more than 20-25 saves per game.
If I’m the Blackhawks I have to be worried that we’ve given out the contract that we gave to Huet and he didn’t live up to it last year. And now the guy who DID live up to his contract (granted, he lived up to it for ONE year of his contract) is on a different team and we’ve got to put ourselves on his shoulders.
It’s a similar dilemma that Detroit has in our backup.

Figure CLB to be better… not sure they will be that improved… though it would be cool if they were. I like Columbus as a hockey city, and I want the team to be successful…
