Addressing The Issues

from Mark Purdy of the Mercury News,
There will be issues for second-year coach Todd McLellan, who promises to get some Sharks veterans out of their usual comfort zones even more so than last September, when he installed his own system that worked marvelously for 82 games and then fizzled.
There will be issues with former captain Patrick Marleau, subject of much finger-pointing and trade scuttlebutt. Marleau might not have been asked to drop his no-trade clause, but you can bet he was asked whether he wanted to stay with the team. His statement that he wants to stick around and “prove the naysayers wrong” needs to be validated by him at every practice and every game.
There will be issues with Joe Thornton. Will he be more like the snarling player we saw in the last couple of playoff games against the Ducks? Or will he keep his emotions buried under the surface? Unbelievably, the buzz from Canada’s Olympic camp is that Thornton is on the bubble for making its team. That’s an insult to Thornton’s achievements — but he knows that a fast start with the Sharks will lock up the roster spot.
There will be issues with Evgeni Nabokov.
