“This deal did not affect our core moving forward, that was appealing to us.”

Really?
I wonder who exactly he sees as part of the core moving forward. Maybe he plans on dumping one of the youngsters based on how they play in the next season?

I think it has a huge impact on their core going forward. Their cap situation next summer is going to be a nightmare when Kane and Toews want the raises that they’ve earned. It’s a good deal for Hossa, and I can’t begrudge him taking it, but I’m not entirely convinced that it makes sense from a cap perspective for the Hawks.

Unless they now consider Hossa part of their core and someone else is out of the picture. Hossa is young enough, I suppose.
We’ll see, I guess.

Is Tallon an idiot or what? How does this not force him to make serious decisions next summer.
