Afternoon Line

From Adam Proteau’s mailbag at The Hockey News:

[To:] Adam,
I was wondering if Cristobal Huet would return to Montreal after he is a free agent in July? [...]
Dianne B., Ottawa, Ont.

[To:] Dianne,
The only way Huet returns to Montreal is if Carey Price quits hockey to join a Zen Buddhist retreat, and Jaroslav Halak receives an eight-year, $80-million restricted free agent offer from Kevin Lowe in the off-season.

added 5:03pm, We had two Morning Lines, so why not two Afternoon Lines…

from Adrian Dater at All Things Avs,

He blew up at me several times, probably the biggest being after I wrote of his also-legendary incident when he smashed up the office of Bob Hartley in 1999, in Anaheim.

Roy smashed up Hartley’s office with his goalie stick, after being pulled briefly in a game, one in which the Avs won but Roy didn’t get credit for the victory. The Avs did a good job of keeping it quiet, but a few days later I got word of it and wrote about it. Roy not only came after me, he went on a kind of witch hunt around the team as to who leaked it. A few people were falsely accused, and it was a full-blown circus in the locker room for a while.

While I have no real problem with referring to Adam Proteau as Dianne, I think you might have flipped those bold names Alanah.

Ha!  Well, the first part is “To adam” and from Dianne. The second is his response to her.

Make sense now? I suppose I didn’t make it terribly clear. Sorry! smile

Wow. When folks out there can’t follow the sequence you poster, Allanah, just let it go. The odds are they won’t be able to follow the explanation either. wink

I actually had to reread your post twice and Aaron’s post three times before I could figure out what his problem was. As the comedian Ron White says, “You can’t fix stupid.”

...the sequence you poster…

Ah, make that “...the sequence you posted...”.

Apparently, you can’t fix bad typing either. grin

Hey, OTC. Thanks for the support, but don’t blame Aaron. It really was my fault. After Aaron pointed out his confusion, I added the “To” and “To” for each quote to make it clearer… I can see how it would have caused a misunderstanding. smile

I knew which was which jackass, it just made it look like Proteau’s response was coming from someone named Diane.  I wasn’t nitpicking, I just thought it came out funny.  I got a laugh.

Thanks for the fix as well as the defense of my intellect.  It’s definitely questionable but not because of that.  Keep up the good work.

Ugh.  I’m the only jackass here. Sorry… I definitely need to pay more attention to what I’m doing sometimes. smile

Nice touch when the guy can’t even spell your name right too.  It’s much clearer now, though less humorous.
