Ethan Moreau when asked who is the smartest player in the NHL…

I’d have to say Chris Pronger. He’s probably the best player and the smartest player I’ve ever played with. I didn’t learn too much from him on the ice because he plays a different position. But, he has a real professional approach to the game, he’s always prepared to play and he takes a lot of pride in the way he plays. So those are probably things I took from him.

Ethan’s brain obviously isn’t getting enough sunlight being that far north.

Any successful organization in the league right now has a new building. So, its a no-brainer.

You so sure about that Ethan?

On the smartest player in the NHL: I’d have to say Chris Pronger.

I think his head would explode if he met King Lidas.

It’s hard not to be impressed by Pronger’s intelligence.  He is, after all, an expert in fizzix.

Ethan particularly liked the way Chrissy explained fisics to him.

So those are probably things I took from him.

And when he finds out YES you took them, Ethan, you can YES expect an elbow to the head.

And for an example of Chrissy’s brilliance, we bring you this little exerpt from his blog…

Sounds like Ethan Moreau is one of these TV guys just drumming up rumors to sell more papers.

As far as anyone can tell from an interview, Lidstrom seems very intelligent.  So does Jiri Fisher (although not a current player).  Dustin Penner of the Oilers also seems brighter than a lot of people give him credit for, and has a wonderful sense of humour, too.  And wasn’t it Alex Kovalev who built a plane during the lockout and is a talented pilot of both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters?

It’s hard to say sometimes who is all that smart, because players who are very young often seem dim even if they aren’t, and there is no way to tell how many athletes have found that they can play dumb and avoid having to answer questions instead of always talking to others when they don’t feel like it.

But I wouldn’t have thought of Chris Pronger immediately as being too well endowed in the brains department.
