Afternoon Line

Asked what he thought about the Penguins tactics by sitting Sidney Crosby Sunday, Murray stated what I thought.

“I knew what was going on,” said Murray.  “You guys all know they wanted to play Ottawa. That’s fine. That was fairly obvious from the drop of the puck.”

Are they insinuating that an NHL hockey team threw a game? Shame.

Think how complicated the math must have been to figure out how to tank enough games to go from first to seventh seed in a couple of months.

It’s both. It’s one game, right? If you win, you get an extra round of home-ice advantage, assuming you make it to Round 3 AND Montreal makes it to Round 3 as well. But you face the most physical team in the East in round 1, Philly, and if you recall last year it was Ottawa’s physical game that threw the Pens off their game.

Now, if you lose, you get to play the Sens, a team you’ve got a lot of experience playing, a team with shaky goaltending, porous defense, and missing three very key players, one of whom was, at times, a very strong candidate for the Hart.

Yes, they threw the game. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of Tampa’s recent losses weren’t also throws designed to get them the top pick in this year’s draft.

I think Murray is stretching a thought into a speech for Game 1 against PIT.  If they were gonna throw it why would they play Malkin, Hossa, Fleury, et al when Taffe, Kennedy, and Conlkin were scratched in their favor?  Threw the game?  No. Complacent with whomever they play in the first round sounds more likely.

I think Murray’s just upset bc nobody bothered to call the WAAAAAAAAMBULANCE for him when they got matched up against PIT.

Do you hear that?  John Paddock is laughing his ass off somewhere.
