“I know we expect a lot from Toews because he has delivered a lot, but don’t overlook this example of his remarkable maturity. A kid who’s captain of one of the best teams in the NHL, a kid who centers the top line, a kid who leads off almost every shootout—- this kid is doing the scut work for his country, doing all the selfless, thankless stuff, and he’s still managing to stand out. Special kid. Lucky us.”

Rosenbloom is referring to what he’s doing for team Canada right now as selfless and thankless yet he’s mature enough to be on the top line of one of the best teams in the NHL. He’s playing on the 4th line for team Canada, no?

Toews has done a fantastic job, there’s no doubt about that. He’s going far with that work ethic and understanding of the game. He and Doughty have surprised me with their effort on this gigantic stage.

Moq, surprised by their effort at this level? Or their execution/performance?
They both are real good players, and they’ve done in this tournament what they did to teenagers in the World Juniors just a couple years ago, impressive!

Nice job by Babcock to move Nash with Toews and moving Iginla with Crosby. Toews looked to be in top form last night and brought out the best in Nash.

The choice of word was a little ambiguous, I should have written impact instead.

Toews has been the most consistent player on team Canada and is the team MVP.

Toews is a special player, but I’m not sure that centering the top line and leading off the shootouts really count as thankless work. And in fact, as for the thankless stuff that Toews does do…well, Rosenbloom just thanked him for it. So was it ever really thankless stuff to begin with?
