Afternoon Line

This is a great atmosphere here in Detroit, much better than a parking lot.

Pretty unclassy Brian… I don’t begrudge your exercising your free-agent rights, but isn’t it the Devils who gave you an opportunity out of the Swedish minor leagues..act a little more respectful towards fans who cheered you all those years.

Not cool Brian, just because Lou wouldn’t give you a raise doesn’t you mean you can be an ass to the fans who showed up that day.

Rafalski is a very good player and a consistent arse.

Good riddance to bad rubbish

it’s kinda a truncated statement..

he was basically taking about the size of the parade and he said that in Jersey it was smaller, and took place in a parking lot…

it certainly didn’t sound like he was trying to insult Jersey

How else could he compare them?  Some passive cliche about both being good?  How boring.

I’m sure it is better than a parking lot - and so will and future NJD Cup parades through the streets of Newark instead of in a parking lot there.

You work with what you have, and if all you’ve got is a parking lot, you make it work out alright, but it isn’t optimal.

Detroit does know how to throw a parade - been doing it for 100 years down Woodward. Thanksgiving Day Parade second largest in the US. Not the fault of cities who have to hurry to arrange one after a Cup. In Detroit, the Parade Comission is set and ready to go, route pre-determined, plus 1,000 parade volunteers to call on for help.

So Rafalski’s comment, while seemingly flip, is not a dismissal of other cities. At least not in the eyes of the people in Michigan.

But on the other hand…we did have 1 million people show up.
