From Mike Chen’s Hockey Blog,
I’m reserving comments on the whole free-agent idiocy until the second day finishes so that we get the remaining chips (hopefully) off the table. So far, though, what a bunch of freakin’ morons (the GMs, not the players).

Hey, I made the afternoon line! I feel honored!
Nathan, I agree with you there. The Hossa signing is like the anti-Jeff Finger signing. Holland has earned a gold star for the day.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

Ah, but there is one exception, and his name is Ken “Jesus” Holland.
Nabbed the best backup goalie on the market for 700k. Resigned one of his top four d-men to a contract that will keep that core in tact for a few years to come. And got Marian Hossa to take at least 1.5 million less than someone else would’ve offered. To top it all off, he got Hossa to take a one-year pact to ensure that he’d have the space to get Zetterberg and Franzen re-upped for the following season when their contracts expire.
