Here’s a look at some of the best of the first five seasons of the shootout:
Does practice make perfect?—The Rangers, Oilers and Boston Bruins have been the most active participants in shootouts. All have taken part in 65, with the Oilers winning 39, tying them with Dallas and New Jersey for the most in the shootout’s five-year history. The Rangers are next with 37 wins, while the Bruins have won 31 and own a shootout-record 34 losses.
At the other extreme, the Carolina Hurricanes have been involved in only 37 shootouts—and won just 17 of them. Calgary has taken part in only 38 and has just 14 victories, the fewest of any team.

I dont know if I agree with the shootout. The one thing I do know is that the wings have to win more of them. If we had incresed our shootout wins by 10% we would have been a higher seed than 5ht last year. The wings need to improve compared to what we did last year.
Howard took some time getting acclimated with the shootout, he did get the hang of it by the end of the season. Probably because we were in soo many of them. Plus we have one of the best shootout players in Pavel Datsyuk. So we should be able to get that extra point when the time comes.
Look at the Phoenix Coyotes. They won a sh*tload of points last year from just the shootout. I dont know if this is true, but I heard that Babcock doesnt like to use practice time to work on shootout techniques.
