from Craig Custance of the Sporting News,
Q: What’s your reaction to the organization’s decision to look for a new captain?
A: If Patty loses his ‘C’, obviously, he’s going to feel it more than anyone. He’s going to be asked more questions about it. [The playoff exit] wasn’t just his fault. I blame myself just as much as anything for something like that. In the game you need a supporting staff. I’m just as responsible for it as he is. We didn’t get the job done this year. I assume there’s going to be change when that happens. This is a new step. The team is going to have to roll with it. There are no captains right now. Someone will be named the captain, but it’s going to be collective. Everybody needs to step up.
