All Kessel Can Do Is Wait

from Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe,
For now, after logging three NHL seasons, Kessel is waiting to see where his career path leads, along with his pay scale. He remains an unsigned restricted free agent, the sole Boston regular still not to have a deal in place with the season opener (Oct. 1) only six weeks on the horizon.
Kessel, noting the possibility that his next NHL game may not be with the Black and Gold, said he fully expects to have a new contract in place before the start of the season. And although he categorized his negotiations with Boston at a “stalemate,’’ he also said he was not disappointed by the talks between his agent, Wade Arnott, and Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli.
“Because, obviously, it is a business, too, for [the Bruins],’’ he said. “It’s kind of like we are at a standstill and I don’t now what is going to happen, to tell you the truth. I think it can go either way at this point.’’
Asked how he would like to see it resolved, he said, “Obviously, you would like to stay, but you don’t know if it is going to work out in the end. My only thing is, you want it to go sooner [rather] than later . . . you know, if you are not going to be there, [or] if you are . . . it is easier on you [to know] where I am and where to go.’’
