According to Leafs Lunch, Tampa Bay has waived Dave Andreychuk.
update 1:08pm, via Sportsnet,
One day after the New Jersey Devils raised eyebrows throughout the hockey community by placing veteran forward Alexander Mogilny on waivers, word has leaked out of Tampa Bay that the Lightning are trying to unload Dave Andreychuk.
Sources tell Sportsnet Lightning general manager Jay Feaster sent a fax earlier this week to the 29 other NHL teams announcing the 42-year-old future Hall of Famer is available.
update 2:02pm, I made a call to Leafs Lunch asking them if they are still reporting Andreychuk is on waivers, since I have not heard it on their updates for the last 45 minutes. They hung up on me!!!
Now, Sportsnet and Leafs Lunch work hand in hand, somewhere along the line someone may have messed up.
As I stated in the comments of this post, Tampa may be offering Andreychuk around the league, but actually placing him on waivers is another thing. Leafs Lunch should have clarified their remarks instead of being silent about it.
update 3:22pm, via TSN,
Tampa Bay forward Dave Andreychuk has not been waived by the Lightning, contrary to a radio report out of Toronto, but the veteran is being shopped to other teams by GM Jay Feaster.

Right Tim, I just thought I would make it up.

Still nothing, and no links anywhere.
Why would you make this up?

Still haven’t heard it. Did they really say it?

Tim,
Maybe you should take up another sport.

To clarify the “placed on waivers”, that information is coming from Leafs Lunch and Leafs Lunch only.
Sportsnet is saying Andreychuk is available, and TSN is just pointing out what was said on Leafs Lunch.

regardless of if he’s waived or available, how do you treat your captain this way?
Posted by Phil on 01/05/06 at 01:43 PM ET
I agree Phil, he is only taking up $800k of cap room. Deal with it for this year, talk like this should have never hit the media.

sounds like the reports were false. Tim, settle down buddy. He didn’t make it up, try some other sites/message boards, it’s definitely not made up, but doesn’t look like its true, either. It would be hard to imagine Tampa just waiving their captain.
