Another GM Candidate For The Leafs

from Scott Morrison at CBC,

...But what about Jimmy Rutherford?

OK, he has a job as general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, who won the Stanley Cup a couple of seasons ago. But in the world of high finance anything is possible. Money talks and the Leafs have plenty of it.

Rutherford would be a perfect fit in Toronto. He played in Toronto and understands how dreadful the teams have been and how horrible the drought has become.

What is the deal with Toronto?  Every single name that has been tossed out so far for a non-vacant GM position is currently working for someone else…yet they figure if they throw enough money at them their current employer will just let them go to Toronto to save the franchise from its enormous profits.

I’m starting to think Ferguson is surrounded by a tornado of circling vultures.

I wonder if Scott Morrison, or any other media in Toronto for that matter, have looked at the standings this morning.  They are looking like fools trashing this team every day when the rest of us can see so much positive about them.  They are .500, in 5th place, and have scored the most goals in the NHL.  You can teach Brett Hull to play defense, but you can’t teach Dallas Drake to score 50.

How about me?

I would make an excellent GM.

I would not have signed hal gill or pavel kubina for starters, freeing up some 10 millions right off the bat. there were plenty of scrub blueliners out there when they decided to pick those players up.  they would have been further ahead acquiring Luongo and signing a 2nd line defensive defensemen for around 2 mil per year.

There, defense solved, playoffs assured.

Sweet zombie Jeebus, don’t these guys ever quit? First Bowman, then Holland, now Jim Rutherford. Oh, yes, that’s right, Holland and Rutherford can be lured away from where they’re successful and happy (as well as avoiding the relentless pressure of obsessive media vultures) by the Leafs filthy lucre.

Next thing you know they’ll be talking about resurrecting Sam Pollock and using the Leafs riches to hire him as general manager. sick
