Are They Worthy

from Mike Heika at the Dallas Stars Blog,

The Hockey News had salary rankings in their most recent edition, and I was struck by who is makng the most money next season. While the old structure overpaid players who were 30-somethings, the new system seems to overpay players who are younger and who hit free agency at just the right time.

The rankings are based solely on salary for next season, and some players have a lower cap hit, but does anybody else see inequities with these Top 10s?

read on for the list…

I just laugh when i look at that. The goalies almost need to be flipped around, with Brodeur and Nabokov at the top. Also i just laugh when i see how much Philadelphia Buffalo and the Rangers are willing to overpay bad players. Lundqvist Briere Vanek and Gomez have no right to be on this list. And when Ryan Millers contract kicks in he will be in the middle of the goalie pack. Thats ridiculous. But hey, if you were a bad player wouldn’t you want to play for one of these dumb teams willing to pay a shit load?

Too bad Nabokov and Brodeur can’t renegotiate the contracts they signed a couple years back, eh? Revenues have risen - no matter what the factor - so salaries have gone up too. Not that I don’t think some of the players at the top have ridiculous salaries, but 2 years ago it was a different market.

Skill-wise, Khabibulin and Huet are the only two on the goalie list that don’t belong in that group, in my opinion.

In case it doesn’t get posted at the Dallas Stars Blog due to content I am also posting it here.  They don’t really like Wings fans commenting… I don’t know why.

1st - I am a Detroit fan.  You can chose to continue reading or not based on that fact.

2nd - I have to say something very positive (and somewhat scary) about Turdco.  He did something this year he has not managed before.  He beat the Wings at the Joe.  This means the “jinx” is done and he will be more of a threat in Detroit.

3rd - Turdco is a dirtbag unsportmanlike piece of crap.  A stick in the nuts is a pussy move.

4th - It is only fair to tell you I basically feel the same way about Osbad and HatCheck.  The difference is their unsportmanlike conduct is only for diving and purposly knocking the net off (the only time I ever saw Turdco dive was when Datsyuk deked him out of his jock strap.)

And finally
5th - Turdco is paid fairly - he is that good.
