from Stan Fischler of the Hockey Journal,
• Just Musing Dep’t. If the Rangers made a pitch for Patrick Marleau, it wouldn’t surprise us. …
• Something To Watch Next Year Dep’t. If Evgeni Malkin continues to upstage Sid Crosby, how’s the supposed Top Banana going to feel being down a bit in the bunch? …
• Atlanta’s front office puzzle should be sorted out in the next week or so. …

Stan seldom lets reality stand in the way of his opinions.

What exactly would the Rangers want with Marleau? They have Gomez, Drury, Dubinsky, and Betts as their centers. Think they’d sign Marleau to play the 4th line? Because the top 3 are pretty much locked in, and there are a couple guys on the farm who will be fighting for that 4th spot.

LOL! Man, gotta love old Stan trying to stir up trouble that ain’t there. Sid isn’t bothered in the least by Malkin’s suppposed “upstaging” him. Heck, Sid won’t mind if Malkin makes more money than him, considering when his current contract ends he’ll be in line to make the richest deal in NHL history either with the Pens or another team, not to mention he took less money last summer (he could’ve made $10 million per) to help the Pens retain their other star players.
And as for this “upstaging”, Crosby’s been the better of the two in the Flyers series. Malkin had a great game one but the Flyers have keyed on him and he’s found it rough sledding since, while Crosby has shone despite the extra attention focused on him.
