Artyukhin Talks About His Slew-Foot On Niskanen

Winger Evgeny Artyukhin talked to reporters for the first time since he was suspended three games for slew-footing Dallas’ Matt Niskanen in Wednesday night’s game.
Artyukhin expressed remorse for injuring Niskanen, but he did not agree with the suspension.
“I didn’t trip him,” Artyukhin said. “I didn’t want to kill him or nothing. I want to apologize for this guy. I hope he’s going to come back soon.”
Artyukhin said he was finishing his check and didn’t think he took Niskanen’s feet out from under him.
“My feet are both on the ice,” Artyukhin said. “I didn’t, like, kick him, and my stick’s still on the ice. I just used my upper body.”
Artyukhin said he asked his agent about appealing the suspension but was advised not to do so. …
