At The Quarter Mark, With A Fantasy Spin

from Rob Higgins at the Toronto Sun,
One quarter of the season is now in the books. It’s time we took stock.
• The Dallas Stars are the worst team in the league. And their leading goal-scorer is still Loui Eriksson.
• Marc Savard is the new Joe Sakic.
• Jeff Carter is the new Johan Franzen.
• Sidney Crosby is taking over the scoring race while Alex Semin doesn’t want to play through pain.
From a fantasy perspective ...
• Eric Staal is the 22nd best centre in the league. Not acceptable. He fixed the +/- issues but forgot how to rack up the points.

My sentiments exactly, Nathan. He has 10 goals in 18 games so it’s not like he’s stopped scoring.

where does this idiot get off saying semin is just not playing through pain? does he know how bad semin’s injury is? some of these media guys make themselves look pathetic with their attempts to try to belittle anyone who threatens crosby, when in fact they are just embarassing themselves and showing no professionalism with their man crush on the ‘kid’.

Semin has a history of injuries that has made most question his will to suck it up and play. It’s entirely possible that he really is that hampered, but we’ll never really know. We do know that Semin has historically been as brittle as Martin Havlat though.

i am fully aware of semin’s history, but does this reporter have no other way to say crosby has been playing well? he has to try to take a dig at semin, who he cannot say fully and truthfully is not hurt and just in pain. it’s a cheap ploy to bash semin and pump up crosby, who by the way, is not taking over the scoring race since malkin is still in front of him and playing well.

I think Johan Franzen is still Johan Franzen… Jeff Carter is awesome too, don’t get me wrong, but let’s not act as if Franzen’s ship has sailed.
