Attack The Wings

from Carol Slezak of the Chicago Sun-Times,
This is my hope for tonight: That the Blackhawks remember what got them to the Western Conference finals. Fearless play. Depth and talent. Resiliency. Confidence. The Hawks seemed to forget all that Sunday. They played too tentatively for much of the game, as if they were in awe of the Red Wings. I want to see them attack the Wings tonight. I want to seem them play with the confidence that got them this far.
Since Sunday’s loss, we’ve heard a lot about how great the Red Wings are. Suddenly, the Wings are unbeatable, a perfect team. And if the Hawks make so much as one mistake against them, they’re doomed. Crazy talk. Some perspective, please. The Wings weren’t even the best team in the conference this season. And they needed seven games to get past the no-longer-mighty Ducks.

Well, they should be no problem for the Hawks then.
This writer also forgot to mention that they’re too old, too slow, too European, always choke in the first round, and have a bad goalie.
How is it possible that the Wings win so much when they have so many weaknesses? It boggles the mind. It must be lucky bounces or something.

Trust me, Terry Foster knows more about hockey than the Sun-Times writers. It’s really sad.

You forgot too soft, because they have fewer fights than anyone else in the league and don’t have a tough guy on their roster.
The Wings are far from perfect - no team is perfect - but they do present problems for an inexperinced team such as the Blackhawks, and they do present problems for a team that might fall into a pattern of thought that since they have come back from deficits against other teams, this series will be no different.

Every time a team loses to the Wings in the playoffs, this tired old dog of an excuse gets trotted out. They drag the dog around and come at it from all angles until they beat the poor thing to death.
Maybe, just maybe, the Hawks got beat because they got outplayed. Maybe the Wings are just better. Maybe “awe” has nothing to do with it.

I think he hit “too European” and we all know that’s the same thing as soft.

I am stuck in awe, hearing the dough-head articles coming out of chicago. They always seem to either contradict themself, or make no sense at all.
. . . but I guess ya can’t blame them, they’re just as scared as everyone else who has run into the wall that is the red machine.
