Avery Wants To Make Hockey “Cooler”

from the New York Times (Sunday edition),
...“In a way, I want to make our sport cooler,” Mr. Avery said of his high-profile exploits.
The fans at Madison Square Garden don’t need to be sold. Earlier that Monday, the muscular Mr. Avery, dressed in a black V-neck while recovering from wrist surgery, had made a surprise appearance in the raucous upper ring of the arena known as the “blue seats” during a game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
“Do I really need two security guards?” he asked the Rangers publicist leading the expedition.
“Hey, you’re a rock star,” the publicist said. Minutes later, a sea of fans in blue jerseys had swallowed Mr. Avery, chanting his name.

What did he say about Blake “cowboycoffee”? Learn you facts before you post crap.

Its Avery’s word against Blake’s. Just because FAN590 retracted their statement does not mean it didn’t happen.
Basically it comes down to who do you believe. Unfortunately for Avery, his past comments and actions make him look really bad. Even if his lawyer issues 50 libel notices, nobody will believe him. Well, except maybe Rangers fans, but obviously, they really need something to believe in right now.

Yo BrokeBack Cowboy!
How is it Blake’s word against Avery’s?
Here’s the story giddy-up:
FAN 590 reporter Howard Berger had claimed Avery made “cancer-related remarks” to Blake, citing an unidentified Rangers player.
Get your story straight San Fran Boy!

You have no idea what you’re talking about “cowboycoffee” Blake said he didn’t hear Avery say anything.

OK, Ladies, i take back what I said about the Blake comment.
I stand corrected.
Everything else I said about the guy, i’m staying with. He’s a pussy.
Oop, and sorry Rumor Mill. I’m straight as an arrow. Lots of people here in SF are. You’re just gonna have to go back to trolling the Rangers message boards for boys.

OK folks, enough of the off-topic remarks. Please keep it on topic, KK is not the place to stray too far!

Cowboy,
I think the Rangers, Tom Renney, Glen Sather, and possibly any other NHL GM wouldn’t mind having an agitator like Avery in their lineup, but maybe I’m a little biased, being a Ranger fan and all.
The Rangers ended their season last year, correct me if I’m wrong,17 wins, 6 losses with Avery in their lineup. I’m not too sure about the win-loss total this year, but I belive they have been better with him playing.
Hey I despised Chris Nilan when he was with the Habs, but was perfectly happy when he was wearing a blueshirt. Same with Darius Kasperitus. Certain players are actually pretty good at the “getting under your skin” type players. Rick Tocchet comes to mind and Chris Neil of Ottawa is similar now.
Let me guess. Unless your a transplant from another town, you’re a Sharks fan. Perhaps we will run into you guys in April. That’s of course if you can get past either Vancouver or the Red Wings!

Cowboy,
Just checked the Rangers record with Avery on and off the ice:
The Rangers are 9-4-1 with Avery in the lineup and 8-9-2 with him out. Maybe that’s just coincedental, but it works for me. He actually can skate pretty good too, so he’s not just some Chris Simon type.

Hey Rumor,
I agree with what you’re saying. The guy can play. The guy can motivate his team. The Rangers NEED a guy like him. It’s his antics that put a bad mark on the game. He thinks he’s bigger then the game and that’s wrong.
I was sad to see him leave Detroit for Schnids, but then the person he became after being in LA made me (and a lot of Wing-Nuts) happy that he left. That type of *#$%@& doesn’t belong in the game.
Really, NY is the only city that will accept a guy like him. They need him. Something is seriously wrong with that kind of team firepower only performing when Pussy is in the lineup? I think there’s a lot other (and way more important) bad mojo going on in that room if they can only win with him in the lineup.
I’m a Detroit transplant in SF, btw. The Sharks just make me sad.

amazing how the biggest PUSSY in all of hockey gets an article like this written about him.
Seriously, after what he said about Blake and all of his other “issues”, he is the last person I’m hoping will make our sport “cooler”
Oooooh, you’re SO dark Sean Avery. Your fingernails and all black clothes and supposed interest in modern art make you SUCH a complicated person. Your inner-struggle must affect you in ways that no other hockey player could ever understand.
PLEASE MAKE US COOLER SEAN!
