Avs May Be Losing Their Playoff Grip

from Mark Kiszla of the Denver Post,
The Avs cannot blow this. Can they?
The NHL’s feel-good story isn’t feeling so hot. When the snow of winter blows, glass slippers lose traction. The slide has begun.
When the Avalanche fails to make the playoffs, don’t come crying to me.
Think this horrendous 3-2 loss to the New York Islanders was no big deal? Then you didn’t see the anger seething in the eyes of Avs coach Joe Sacco.
“We didn’t play our game,” Sacco said Wednesday night.

Of course it would help is Kiszla actually watched the team or knew anything about them.
He hacked on Salei for a lack of production. If he was paying any type of attention or knew anything about the team at all he would know that Salei has been on the IR since the season started with a back injury and more recently back surgery. He is hoping to make it back in time for the Olympics.
He isn’t the usual hockey writer and it shows.

Not only can the Avs ‘blow’ this, I’d be stunned if they actually did make the playoffs.
They’re a moderately horrible team. They’re the same terrible team they were last year, except this year Anderson (and Budaj) have played a lot better than the goaltending they’ve gotten from Raycroft and Theodore the past few years.
Since December 15th they’ve been outshot by every team they’ve played except Columbus. Since December 1st they’ve been outshot by 10 EIGHT times.
Horrible performances. Really, it’d be a surprise if Colorado wasn’t out of the playoff picture by the end of January. They’ll probably be a 9 or 10 seed by then.

Whew. I was worried there for a minute.
And I’m still laughing. God, god, god….please let the Dive miss the playoffs after their “feel good” first half.
