from Dave Waddell of the Windsor Star,
Having coached in the U.S. the past decade, Babcock isn’t shy anytime he gets a chance to wave the maple leaf.
“I’m going to talk about the opportunity to be an Olympian and the opportunity for Canadians to understand how important it is for the country to embrace this,” Babcock said. “Having it in your country and getting to share all the great things about Canada is fantastic.”
From a personal standpoint, Babcock rates the impending experience in Vancouver as his greatest.
He knows he faces immense pressure and second guessing from a nation with lofty expectations, but his background as an avid hunter tells him the thrill is only amplified by the pursuit of such an elusive prize as a gold medal.
“It’s the greatest opportunity you can have as a hockey coach,” Babcock said. “To me, this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, since I was a boy, to be an Olympian.
