Bell Hopes To Fill Void In Ottawa

from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun,

Brendan Bell is glad to be home.

“I’m really looking forward to this chance because I really felt there was an opportunity here,” said Bell. “They stressed after the contract negotiations the importance of coming in and really competing for a job because, like everybody is saying, there is some opportunity here."…

“By no means, am I a Brian Campbell or somebody that they may be looking for, but I feel I may be able to fill that void if I play as well as I can.”

HA!  Only in Ottawa can a defenseman that lost his job because of Andy Woznieski/Ian White/Carlo (I tripped and broke my soul) Coliacovo/Swedish Stralman find another training camp tryout.  Good luck Sens’!

Actually, if you read the article, there were 5 or 6 teams interested, so apparently it’s not just in ottawa… no one expects bell to be a star…
frankly, as long as he doesn’t give the puck away every shift, he could be an upgrade on Redden
he’s certainly not guaranteed a roster spot… depending on meszaros’ contract, i think murray may look to add another defenceman… it’s no secret our defence is weaker than it has been in years, but i’d still take it over the leafs’
