Bertuzzi Chasing The Cup

from Tony Gallagher of the Vancouver Province,
Every night before he goes to bed, Detroit Red Wings forward Todd Bertuzzi goes through an elaborate stretching program to keep his back in the best shape it can be after all he’s put it through during his eventful 15-year NHL career.
Every once in a while he needs to have this special back doctor that he’s worked with over the years to come in and use acupuncture, manipulations and other assorted techniques to straighten out his back and hip by working on them for four or five days in a row, in part to try to make him comfortable on the long flights out west from Detroit.
“It happened right before the start of the regular season, my guy came in and I took six days off and he worked on me,” said Bertuzzi. “And it seemed to work because I started the season well rested and feeling pretty good. At the time I think some of the guys just thought I was trying to get out of playing another exhibition game, but you know, I’m glad I did it because I’m feeling strong. Some days I feel like I’m old but I’m going to chase that Cup until I can’t walk.”

Pretty inspirational. And if he has half the heart of The Captain, he’ll continue chasing it afterwards, too.
