from InventorSpot,
Some sports teams have had logos that have lasted for what seems like an eternity; whether for more than half a century full of glory or a few struggling decades. But no matter what criticisms or financial issues a team has faced, the logo still stands on strong.
The following are 10 great logos that have solidified teams and major league sports.
continued and three NHL teams listed including the Winged Wheel as #1.

Any logo that has your team’s city or team name should be automatically disqualified from the top ten.
+1 to the Blackhawks logo.

One more thing for the Red Wing haters of the world to rage against this morning.
Also, the Black Hawks should be on this list. Commit to the Indian !

while I appreciate the detroit red wings being top of the list (like there was any other option), you’re telling me that the chicago bulls logo is cooler than the old english D? I agree WK, any logo that has the city or team name in it should not be included. Blackhawks and Bruins should be on that list.

Sorry Chicago, that should read “Blackhawks”

Half the list is from New York, Chicago, and L.A. Coincidence?
I personally have a hard time considering a single letter of the alphabet, no matter how stylized, to be a logo.
Is the inclusion of a cetacean wearing a helmet done for comedic value?

the Cosmos had a pretty sweet logo back in the day.

Where’s the Pittsburgh Steelers logo man? It’s better than all of those above.

I’m not positive, but I think the Steelers logo is borrowed from the steel industry, and not of their own design.

It looks to me like they just picked the most successful franchises (well, other than the Leafs) in major sports. Green Bay, Miami, the Yankees, the Mets, the Lakers and the Bears have no business based on logos alone. The Blackhawk logo’s certainly more deserving (so would San Jose if the Shraks hadn’t changed from the old shark). The Pittsburgh Pirates should be on there as well, though maybe they weren’t included because they aren’t a professional sports team anymore.

No offence to any of the ‘chosen ones’, but if you can pick out three NHL logos, and the ‘Hawks logo doesn’t even make the list, you’ve got problems.
