Better Things To Do

from Stu Hackel of Slap Shot at the New York Times,
Oh, and have you heard the latest heap being shoveled by the gossip-mongering character Eklund? He’s got info that the Rangers will trade Scott Gomez to the Canucks to clear cap space so they can sign Sundin. “This source is a source I very much trust,” he writes. “Of course, Mats still has to come to play.”…
Staggering what some people will post in their blogs.
Hey, it’s summer. It’ll make you watch water polo on TV, and make you believe Eklund. You can probably do better things with your time.
more from Stu and some real topics too…
Stu must have caught the blog sometime today, because in the same blog last night Dwayne had Robert Lang signing with the Canadiens if Sundin decided to go elsewhere. Of course, after being blasted about Lang signing with the Canadiens (he is under contract with the Blackhawks), he deleted that portion and changed it around.
But of course, this is the norm for Dwayne, it happens on numerous occasions and to think of it- Dwayne tried to get me to join a professional bloggers association with him.!

Mac, how did you know what I said to him? HA!

The more we talk about him the more popular he becomes...even if it is to diss him. What is ironic is all the people that report his stories and make fun of him are the same people that are visiting his site. How else do we know so much about what he says and does?

Excellent point, Mr. Nasty.

If the internet has taught humanity anything it is (sadly) that ignoring stupid people doesn’t make them go away… it just makes them post more often.

I used to say that a lot “why talk about him b/c its only going to create more interest in him!” He obviously doesn’t need this website or any other to attract people to his website. I, myself, check out what he says. The difference is I use it as a form of amusment, there have been 9999 Sundin rumours on that site since July 1, that can’t be anything but humourous!

I dunno, water polo looks kind of cool. It’s not the most riveting sport to watch, but it looks like it’d be fun (and painful) to play.

If you know that everybody’s reading a certain tabloid, and know that that tabloid’s giving quite a few people a bad name, it’s somewhat inevitable that you’re going to give it some exposure in saying, “This is how that tabloid really works.”
As I recall, Eklund has treated Paul and many, many other Eklund “skeptics” quite poorly and unprofessionally over the course of their public relationship, and that his posse of bulletin board-posting thugs have resorted to tactics befitting thirteen-year-olds--like posting comments under many assumed names {Eklund himself does this) and launching personal attacks for the purpose of furthering Eklund’s purported accuracy, or the absence of the lack thereof.
It’s his methodology that has, more than anything else, set back hockey teams’ relationships with bloggers by a good five years (and that’s a long time in internet speak).
Some begrudge Eklund because he is there. Some begrudge him because his rumour-mongering half-truths extend to his methods of operation and his never-ending padding of his personal credentials.

You’re mixing apples with oranges, Nasty Boy. There are those who “visit” his site to report on Ekturd’s scurrilous activities, and then there are those, like myself, who’ve been there in the past and now “make fun” of him because he’s the same idiot he was two years ago. And we know this because of that first group, which includes folks like Paul, who report on his activities.
As far as I’m concerned, there has never been an instance in human history when it was against the people’s interest to have the “brave souls” point out the fraudulent activities of others.

NHLScap.com moved to hockeybuzz.com and that is the ONLY reason I go to that site.
I ignore all the other crack-smoked crap on that site.

SYF,
http://nhlnumbers.com/ is better than NHLScap.com, particularly because you dont have to go through hockeybuzz!

@ Mr. Nasty
Two points. First, I don’t visit his site, which is a shame, because there are some talented writers there who would have more exposure (and could be trusted more as sources) if it weren’t for their boss and the site they choose to write for.
Second: The more discussion about Dwayne Klessel, the better, because there is always going to be some newbie to hockey on the Web buying into his nonsense without understanding who he is, what he’s done and why his stock has fallen so far in the last two years.

I agree, this happened to me the first few times going to his site. It didn’t take long to find out he was full of sh*t. He knows if he has leafs and habs rumours that he’ll get a lot of hits.
