NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman’s total compensation increased 4 percent during the 2009-10 season, pushing his salary plus benefits to $7.5 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010, according to the league’s most recent tax filing.

Anyone have the salaries of the other commissioners? Without that, it’s tough to judge.
And Bettman is more of a puppet than a troll. He does what 30 others want and takes most of the heat for it.

For being the chief executive of a $2.9 billion business, that’s not really a lot.

My astonishment comes not from his salary amount as much as his contract being renewed. I am certain their are brilliant people, with first hand experience in the NHL, that could better serve this amazing sport. Having someone who can’t even walk and chew gum, let alone play a game on skates, seems absurd. Oh, and then there is his track record. #9

Bettman’s paid 50 cents for every fan that hates his guts, so 7.5 mil a year in cash sounds about right.

Wow, I had no idea Bettman was getting paid that much. Seems like a gross injustice compared to the average NHL salary…
While, I know what my first issue would be when the new CBA talks start next year… ha!
