According to this Institute, the hit Jack Johnson put on Milan Michalek last night registered a 5.7!

Suggest that you listen to the announcers as well.
This type of hit is not acceptable but neither is the promotion of such action by the announcers acceptable.
They should receive reprimands for their comments.

No question, he left his feet to make that hit. If he’d stayed on his feet it would’ve been a clean, “statement” hit.

Rob Blake should be kicked out of the league for every hip check he’s thrown by the logic of the posters above.
the hit wasnt dirty anyhow, he didnt hit him in the head at all and he mostly hit him with his hip/body. him putting his arm out later in the hit was nothing more than show and didnt even glance Milan.
and i also dont think he jumped as part of the force into Milan… he jumped to save impact into the boards by hitting them higher up where there is more give. if he wouldnt have jumped his hip would have been flying into a low, stiff zone of the boards.
probably not a wise hit to try, but was it dirty? no. and in fact, it could have been way worse if he wouldnt have jumped… and if he was trying to injure Michalek or attack his head, it would have been WAY worse at the speed they were going.
the posters above need to stop crying

It’s not “crying” to point out that Johnson left his feet to deliver that hit, something that the league frowns upon. As I noted, if he’d kept his feet on the ice, it would’ve been considered a clean hit. Regardless of your excuses, you don’t leave your feet to hit another player.
Rob Blake’s been one of the better defencemen in the league, in part because he knows how to deliver a hip check. That’s something he should probably teach to Johnson, who if he’d stayed on his feet would’ve delivered a clean hip check on that play.

First off JJ will not pay for anything.
Second off why is this hit even garnering this much negative attention. Its hockey ladies.. if you don’t want excessive contact go play tennis with your sister.

Unfortunately, that will not be the worst or the last of the dirty hits you see from Jack Johnson.
Look: Michalek was trapped against the boards by another defensive skater, making him a defenseless target. Then Johnson leaves his feet to hammer him.
In the NHL, JJ will pay a price for this.
