TORONTO – Toronto’s Hockey Station THE FAN 590 welcomed NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly to Hockey Central at Noon with Darren Millard and Nick Kypreos on Wednesday.
When asked about the current legal process involving former Nashville Predator Alexander Radulov and the KHL league in Russia Daly broke the news that “They have suggested they are amenable to the arbitration in the Radulov matter in connection with the arbitration on a couple of other players.”
He continued saying “They want the Radulov matter arbitrated in Russia. I sent a response back today suggesting we should have an International arbitrator but outside of Russia. We should treat the other two players they have issue with as a separate matter and that I would need any indication that they are in violation of their Russian contracts which I don’t have to date. They also raised an issue with five other players earlier this summer and backed away from those, so I have no indication that any player who signed an NHL contract is in violation of any contractual obligations”
As for a timeline of when he thinks they might go to arbitration “I’m not even sure we’ll ultimately be successful in getting to arbitration because the bottom line is I don’t think they have any intent to go to arbitration. There really is no issue. Everybody knows he has a valid binding contract with Nashville and that legally restricts him from playing in the KHL.”
