via Chuck Gormley of Flyer Files at the Courier-Post,
Just spoke with Marty Biron, who is on his way to Buffalo with his faily.
Biron said he is “a little surprised” he has not signed a contract with an NHL team in the first three days of the NHL signing period, but also said he has had discussions with teams and hopes to sign with one of them soon.
“I’m waiting for some options to open up,” he said.

i think LA as well as maybe even Atl, theyve made some serious moves. if they plan on making a serious case for the playoffs, they need a starter, and Kri Lehtonen is not the guy.
Also dont forget about a team lik Washington, but they have alotta money tied up with Theodore.

Agree with ATL and WAS, good thinking… I do think those teams are willing to give their younger prospects a chance to carry the load. If Marty would come in to be a mentor of sorts and be prepared to play the backup role… But with young goalies you never know - he would most likely at some point in the season be given the chance to win the starters job.

Biron really wasn’t that bad…so it must be the term of the contract and possibly the price he wants that’s stopping a signing. Colorado signed Anderson for 1 mil (or around there)...I think they expect him to be the number 1.
On second thought it’s probably the price he wants. It’s either 1.5 or the khl buddy boy. Hell that’s around what Garon signed for and they’re equally craptastic.

Goaltenders seem to be the only players who are judged truly by their performance on the ice. Obviously if Arnason gets signed there are no standards for skaters (the amount you get paid I guess varies) but for goaltenders who do not have a good season heading into free agency they had better be prepared to either take a pay cut or perhaps take a backup role!
I didn’t think Marty was bad, but he wasn’t great last year that is for sure - part of that had to do with the Flyers over-rated D last season. Can’t see a team where he signs as the starter? LA maybe? Who else really needs a starter?
