2K Sports wanted the authentic arena atmosphere. They wanted to capture the players as they truly are, what they say and do on the ice and put it in the game.
Only thing is, if they use the uncensored content from Wednesday’s practice session in San Jose where the Sharks, including cover athlete Joe Thornton were mic’d, the game would have to be rated M.

It’s hockey: guys swear.  You ask your teammate to pass the f’in puck, and when he does, you thank him very f’in much. the f-word is the single most prevalent word on rinks all over North America.  That’s why very talkative players produce all of 30 seconds of audio when mic’ed--on-ice banter is not family-friendly.

Try reading the coaches lips sometimes, NFL, NBA, MLB it’s all the same.
