Blue Jackets Feel They Won The Game

from Aaron Portzline of Puck-rakers,

When the puck bounced off Turco, then caromed off Malhotra’s skate and went into the net, the Blue Jackets came charging off the bench to celebrate. Both NHL officials—Stephane Auger and Kerry Fraser—had it as a goal on the ice.

And then the light went on in the official scorer’s booth between the penalty boxes.

read on and you decide, was the puck kicked-in…

video isn’t very good shot at all. Malhotra skated over turco’s stick which caused his left skate to move a bit, it wasn’t a kick at all.

What’s with these horrible quality videos?  It’s hard to judge anything using these videos (by “these” I mean this one and the one regarding the controversial shootout save by Mike Smith posted earlier).

Wow, really?

This is a case, I think, of “there’s no way you can overturn the call.”  It’s a call that could have gone either way on the ice, and I don’t think the video is sufficient to overturn it either way.  His skate moves, clearly, but there’s no way to judge if it’s actually a kicking motion at all.  If it was judged a kicking motion on the ice, I don’t think you could overturn it on that video, but the fact that it was called a goal on the ice, I don’t think overturning it can be justified based on the video either.

That was a goal.

can’t kick at a puck when other foot is in the air, physically impossible

fact that Toronto garage room over-turned this is disgusting…  officiating on both sides continues to get worse every night.  It’s a joke.
