Blues Futures

From Jeremy Rutherford at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,

[T.J.] Oshie, 21, is expected to make the opening-day roster and infuse some offensive skill on a team that finished tied for 27th in the NHL in goals last season with 205.

The Blues also announced Tuesday the signing of forward Lars Eller, the 13th overall pick in last summer’s draft. Eller will be in camp but is likely to begin next season in Peoria or in Sweden.

“This is the whole program here ... this is our future,” Blues President John Davidson said. “We need our veterans really bad next year. But the kids are going to move forward as the season goes along. It’s going to be fascinating.”

Forget T.J., I would suggest Kobi Oshie.  It would fit with all of the hot dog days the Blues promote!

It would be interesting if they had Takeru Kobayashi come in and eat like crazy but the only reason the Blues have had to do stunts like that is they are biding their time until the young guys come in to promote.  With Oshie, Johnson, Perron, Backes, Stempniak, Berglund, Eller, Lemtyugov, and more in the future the Blues have a do or die situation in front of them.  If they do well the next question will be the playoff and if they will implode the team like they did several years ago when they lost to S.J. in the first round after coming off a Presidents cup.  The Blues have had the taste of mediocrity in their mouths for so many years they got complacent.  Now they stink and are hoping for an up swing into dominance just like the Wings did many years ago.  The trick is staying there.
