Blues Need Backup Help

from Norm Sanders of the News-Democrat,
The Blues will likely target a backup goalie with NHL experience. Recent trade rumors had them linked with Ottawa goalie Ray Emery and Nashville’s Dan Ellis, so a draft-day deal could be a possibility.
“I think a lot of that will develop once free agency hits,” Davidson said. “You can go and make a trade and get somebody here, that means you’re giving up an asset.
“Or you can see what’s there July 1, and see if you can make a deal.”
Davidson said the ideal candidate would get 20 to 25 games, with Legace handling the bulk of the workload.

Ellis can go to STL and miss the playoffs with Kariya if he wants.

I’d be surprised if Nashville didn’t hang on to Ellis. He played very well for them last season.

See, here’s the thing I don’t get ... which is better, a goalie with NO NHL experience, or a goalie with BAD NHL experience? It’s like a team hiring a coach with the comment “he has playoff experience,” when I wonder if anyone pointed out to them that he had experience LOSING in the playoffs. People don’t always learn from their experiences and get better - sometimes they are just lousy.

What a soap opera that would be. Manny “Suicide Watch” Legace and Ray “Train Wreck” Emery on the same team. It would almost make you sorry the Wings only play them six times next year…almost.
