Blues Need Goals

from Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
If one hadn’t witnessed the Blues’ inability to score goals this season, it might be difficult to fathom based on past evidence.
Brad Boyes, who has averaged 38 goals the past two seasons, is on pace for 17. David Backes had a breakout campaign with 31 goals last season, but so far, he’s on track for four in 2009-10. Paul Kariya, who has averaged 73 points in his last five full seasons, is targeted for 31 points this season.
Boyes, Backes and Kariya certainly aren’t alone as the Blues search for someone — anyone — to put the puck in the net. After Monday’s 4-2 loss to Boston, the club has 50 goals on the season, which is the fewest in the NHL. In 13 of their 21 games this season, the Blues have registered two goals or fewer.
