from Kirk Penton of the Winnipeg Sun,
In the first eight games there were three shutouts. The losing team scored one goal in three more.
Zzzzzzzzz.
There are hockey fans out there who love the defensive battles and the cycling down low. I’d rather watch cycling in France….
The post-season represents a chance for the NHL to show off its game to potential fans, and so far this year it’s failing to do so for two reasons:
1. No fighting.
2. It’s soccer on ice.
Pass the NoDoz.
I am not sure what games Kirk has been watching, but I for one have certainly found the vast majority of the games to be exciting and intense.

now we can see why Winnipeg lost their team

(sigh)
1. There is (almost) NEVER fighting in the playoffs! That’s why the “enforcers” are in the press box or get about 2 minutes of icetime each game. It’s been that way for YEARS because the stakes are so high. You rarely get fighting in close regular season games, either.
2. There have been 12 games so far, with 59 total goals scored (including two overtime periods). That averages out to 4.92 goals per game. Usually when someone compares something to soccer they refer to “the final score is 2-1.” Last I checked, 5 goals was a larger number than 3 goals.
If you don’t like it, then just SHUT UP instead of subjecting others to your brain drizzles because you have no original ideas and your deadline is approaching so you pull out the reliable “hockey is boring!” tripe you hack up like a hairball each year.

This is a joke. The playoffs have been outstanding so far. I didn’t read the whole article, but when it comes to low scoring games, how could anyone complain about SJ’s 2-0 win the other night? I would much rather see those amazing saves Nabby made than have an 6-4 game or something.

Perhaps the saddest thing about this fetish with marketing to the “new” fan is that it results in articles like the one above, where the desire for cartoonesqe ‘action’ blinds even the seasoned hockey fan from the most exciting phenomenon in sports: the Stanley Cup playoffs.

What in the world has this guy been watching??!!?!!? Every game I have watched so far has really been exciting and fast paced. I can’t imagine what it would take for this guy to get excited. I certainly feel sorry for him.

I’ve watched as many games as possible over the last fews days and every damn one has been excellent.
I didn’t bother to read the article, because I don’t actually need to be informed to have an opinion, but the guy’s dead wrong.

I don’t want what he’s smoking.

For the first round, this has been a very good year. I don’t understand the people who want games ending 8-6. Scoring doesn’t equal excitement. Does anyone actually find the Arena Football League more exciting than the NFL?
