via the Chicago Tribune,
On Nov. 12, 2006, Blackhawks winger Rene Borque’s jugular vein was cut by a skate on the ice during a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at the United Center. Borque has been awarded $110,000 from the Illinois Worker’s Compensation Commission as a result of that incident. Chicago attorney Gil Gordon, who has represented several Bears players in work-related injury claims, is also representing the NHL Players Association in similar cases.
