Bouwmeester Traded To Calgary

Panthers get Jordan Leopold (ufa July 1st) and a 3rd round pick.

added 10:29am, via Flames Insider,

So Sutter has a week to convince Bouwmeester to join the Flames.

It also means that the Flames must lose some salary somewhere.

In other words, it’s just starting.

Interesting move by Sutter. If he signs Bouwmeester he will need to move some bodies to make cap room. If he doesn’t, he will have a little extra cap space from Leopold’s departure (which was expected anyway).

If they sign JBO then it will be interesting to see if they keep Regehr or Phaneuf, maybe those rumors about Dion being dealt have some truth to it....

No way Sutter is trading either of those guys, especially considering Brent was Dion’s coach for 4 years in Red Deer. Calgary now has the right tools to unlock Dion’s full potential. If anyone gets moved I’d bet it would be Jokinen.
