Boyle Asked to Waive NTC

from Lightning Strikes,

Things all of a sudden seem to be moving fast with the Lightning and Dan Boyle as the Lightning defenseman confirmed the team has asked him to waive his no-trade clause.

“They have asked me to waive my no-trade clause,” Boyle said, “but that’s all I can say right now.”

It was unclear if the Lightning gave Boyle a destination.

Update 2:11pm ET (alanah): Erik Erlendsson at his Tampa Tribune blog, notes this:

Here’s an indicator as to what the Lightning has in mind of what they fully intend to do with Dan Boyle. If you go to the Lightning homepage during the introduction of the new faces (and a couple of familiar ones), Boyle is not among those listed, which also includes Gary Roberts, Ryan Malone along with the likes of Vinny Lecavalier and Marty St. Louis. But no mention of Boyle.

My gut instinct says he’s going to the Sharks.

If they trade Boyle for two or three forwards I think they have to be considered certifiable.

Were the new owners not involved in the contract negotiations?  It’s a brand-new one, isn’t it?

word is… Boyle is going to Toronto and Kubina is the odd man out.. more to come.

Posted by Bill from Toronto  on  07/03  at  03:18 PM

Word is everyone is going to Toronto.

Posted by Al from Boston  on  07/03  at  03:22 PM

Kubina for Boyle makes no sense.  The Lightning are trying to shed salary, and Ron Wilson has a huge man-crush on Kubina.

amazing with leaf fans...everybody and thier lost dog is going to toronto......won nothing since 67 ,shut up already!!!!

Is it possible that it could be Ottawa, since he’s from Ottawa?

Posted by Al from Ottawa  on  07/03  at  03:36 PM

Ottawa could be a possible, since they lost Chara last year and Redden this.

I wonder who the return could be to Tampa?

Posted by Baroque from Michigan  on  07/03  at  03:39 PM

It’s Ottawa. Meszaros + going the other way. I’d bet my left leg on it.

Posted by Jeff Bridges from Ottawa  on  07/03  at  03:40 PM

if Ottawa gets Boyle they want Andrei Meszaros in return who is RFA and a possibility of a draft pick, but I don’t know if Bryan Murray is willing to dish out a draft pick considering the fact he is taking a cap hit.

Posted by Al from Ottawa  on  07/03  at  03:43 PM

I’m guessing Ottawa or San Jose, seems like they have the ready-to-play now assets TB would be looking to aquire, Mesz being the obvious.

Posted by Jim_Korn  on  07/03  at  03:44 PM

It’s Boyle for Ian White. lol
SJ ot Ottawa

Posted by jo-momma from toronto  on  07/03  at  03:45 PM

LOL your all big fags.

Boyle to Toronto would mean Kubina is the odd man out. That means Kubina would be traded somewhere else not to Tampa necessarily.

Brandon, the name calling is not needed or accepted here.

So nonsense posts from all the other idiots are acceptable?

No they’re not and neither is living in Motown.

Posted by Brandon  on  07/03  at  05:02 PM

Brandon, just pointing out we like to keep the discussion hockey related here.

Again, the shots you are taking are not needed here.

If you wish to discuss in detail, feel free to email me.

Posted by Canucks suck from Vernon  on  07/03  at  05:07 PM

Lets face it, no one knows where he is going. So stop with all the RUMOUR nonsense. So far we have half the NHL written down.

Greg Logan of NEWSDAY wrote in his blog tonight that the Islanders are “Kicking Boyle’s tires”.
