But this isn’t the first time a young hockey star has found himself in trouble in Buffalo after 2 a.m.
During his rookie season with the Hartford Whalers in 1993-94, 19-year-old Chris Pronger - the No. 2 overall draft pick in 1993 - was arrested at 3:55 a.m. along with five teammates and an assistant coach after a bar brawl at Buffalo’s Network club. Pronger, like Kane, was younger than the New York State legal drinking age of 21.
But hockey stars don’t have to be in Buffalo - or be under 21 - to get into trouble after 2 a.m.

Like I said before, this stuff happened all the time 20+ years ago. It used to be you wouldn’t win an away playoff game unless you mopped the floor with a bunch of local drunks at a bar the night before. That’s a big reason why most of us love hockey, and why the minors (A to AAA) still thrive to this day. Hell, Link Geatz may still be coming to your town… I’d recommend staying home if he does
