Staubitz was assessed a minor penalty for charging Kings player Davis Drewiske on the play, which occurred at 13:24 of the second period.

Good Lord Ivanans DESTROYED whoever that was that tried to stand up for Staubitz. Punk didn’t even stand up for himself.
One game is a bit light, but considering what is typically let go after the whistle I’ll take it.

This was a good clean hit. Unfortunately, Red Wings and Kings players tend to be a little softer.

I was there close to the action and it was an impressive scrap. Ivanans is trying to shake his reputation as a soft enforcer this year.
The shot by Staubitz wasn’t the worst ever, and the damages were magnified due to Drewiske’s decision to turn, but it definitely wasn’t a “clean hit”. Even on this video you can see how he connects with his right elbow / forearm. A one game suspension is an appropriate length for this, imo.

Whatever he hit him with, it was like three/four seconds late. I think that was the major problem with it.

The thing with hit, it was on an icing call. Players have been warned to ease up a bit if they can’t get to the puck. Good call.

Good call by the league. It could have been more games but it is his first offense. Not a fan of Staubitz…
