Oh, well. Thought for a minute he might come back to LA… Must not have liked their offer (1 year and a guaranteed trade at the deadline, lol).

WooHoo! Good for both sides, and Good for Wings’ fans.

This gives the Wings a great blueline next year, but stunts their growth. Jonathon Ericsson will have to be sent down to Grand Rapids for another year, and the Wings will still have to trade or waive a defenseman to get down to eight.

HALLELUJAH! I was freaking a bit about what we would do without him! I mean, I trust the Wings’ brain trust and all, but I like knowing guys and Stuart fits in beautifully!

Sweet!
Now for Rolston!

Awesome! This might be the best blueline Detroit has iced over the past 15 years. I’m really glad to hear Stewie will be back!

“They hunt people.” Mike Babcock.
“Detroit is soft.” Don Cherry.
“I’m not so sure about that.” Sidney Crosby from his back.

Awesome! Somehow I thought he was going to bolt, and we were going to trade a second-rounder for Schneider…

Props to OlderThanCheli for breaking it down and saying what I was gonna say - the cap’s expanding around 5-6 mil a year (though is bound to slow down next year, I think), so that frees up nearly enough space for Z and mule assuming we ditch Lils AND Cheli and fill out the back end with our youth.
I figure ditching Samuelson to free up space is a great idea too, never liked that guy. Helm would help round out that empty spot.
I think this forces Kenny’s hand to sign either A. A high-priced free agent like Sundin to one year only, or B. a low-priced free agent for possibly a longer term; I still like Huselius and Tucker.
I believe this makes the Rolston signing unlikely. More than anything I’d love to see a high powered winger, we’ve needed one since Hull left.
Discuss…

YES!!!!! I actually just yelled that out-loud in the cafe i’m at in Boston. Ooops.
Now, gimmie Rolston, then Kenny can start thinking about Z & Franzen for next year.

Oh, yah! That’s what I’m talkin’ about.
If the report is accurate, both the term and amount are reasonable. I just wish they could up Nick Jr.’s pay to match it.
