It’s overtime in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals between the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Suddenly, Toronto centre Raj Singh steals the puck, stickhandles through the whole team, and beats the sprawling goaltender. The Leafs win.

Yes it’s a dream — you know that when “Stanley Cup” and “Toronto Maple Leafs” appear in the same sentence — that illuminates the hopes of Raj (Vinay Virmani), an aspiring hockey player who must fight both his traditional family and the free-floating racism of society in order to become (in the movie’s best joke) Mahatma Gretzky.
