Breaking Down The Call

The Goalie Guru takes issue with the announcer (who happens to be ex-NHL goaltender Chico Resch) and tries to prove his point.
But I would take the word of a guy who played the game on the NHL level before that of a ‘guru’.

C’mon buddy! This is an elite and highly intelligent player. Don’t you know he was trying to make the shooter go five hole. Goalies can have just as much trickery as the shooter. Maybe you should talk to these guys once in a while so that you can get a clue.

If he got quite lucky, then why was it such an easy save?

Also, I love that he pointed out that Brodeur left the five hole open. The shot was taken and Brodeur moves to BLOCK THE SHOT. Who cares if his five-hole was open? He positioned himself to make the save as the shot was taken, not to save some imaginary alternate shot the guy took.
I hate gurus. I hope he stops a shootout attempt with his face.

Right on Garth with your second comment. That’s the first thing I noticed watching, that Brodeur’s five hole was open AFTER the guy took the shot. That’s like a goalie cutting down the angle on a wide-angle shot, then somebody complaining that he left the entire far end of the net open!
After taking a quick look at this guy’s videos, he seems to be pretty angry, and most of his videos mention Brodeur. Must be an angry Rangers fan! (jk)

Wow. That guy is one bitter person (watch the rest of his videos on his channel). Sounds like someone who never made it and now spends his time nit-picking against the best of the best. Yes, there is a lot of guesswork involved in being a goalie—I think everyone knows that, “Guru”. But I’m sure you could help improve Brodeur’s and Luongo’s games if only the Devils or the Canucks would hire you… umm, sure.
He also needs to learn how to use slow motion and not start-stop… start-stop… start-stop.
