Brian Campbell Not Interested In Hearing From Ovechkin

from David Haugh of the Chicago Tribune,

In regard to the official apology Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin offered after inflicting the injury that potentially ended Brian Campbell’s season and hurt the Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup hopes, Campbell says thanks.

But no thanks.

And please don’t call.

“Whatever he says isn’t going to change the fact I’m not going to be playing for a little while,’’ Campbell told the Tribune in his first explanation of what happened last Sunday at the United Center. “I think the intent was there. If the intent is there, I don’t think you can really say you didn’t mean to do anything. So for me, I don’t need anything from him.’‘

Understandable.  He may feel like accepting a call later, but right now it’s too recent for him to want to talk to Ovechkin.

Hey Campbell, don’t wear figure skates and maybe you won’t catch a toe pick.  Campbell bears just as much responsibility for his injury as Ovechkin.  Ovechkin may be a bit reckless, but there was no intent there.  The NHL treats the Blackhawks like the Penguins of the West.

Definitely no intent to cause that type of injury.  On the other hand, there is one thing Campbell could use from Ovechkin: a set.  Seems playoff ouster excuse season is coming early this year.

At least Ovechkin offered an apology, thats poor sportsmanship on Campbell’s part to not want to talk to him, disrespectful. If someone injured me, I’d sure as hell want an apology made.

Bull.  He didn’t apologize for doing it.  He said he was sorry Campbell got hurt.  THEN he said he’s not going to change the way he plays.

You really want to talk disrespectful, then look no further than Ovechkin’s BS “apology”.

The guys still coming to grips with being knocked out of the playoffs on a play that didn’t need to happen. I think he can be forgiven for being a little upset. I wouldn’t want to hear anything from the guy who did it to me either. Maybe at the start of next season or during the offseason.

I’ll bet this ‘Steve’ also thinks Seabrook’s faking an injury on that Wisniewski hit.

sigh

Why would Ovechkin want to hurt Campbell? He’s abused the guy since he was in Buffalo. Almost as badly as Backstrom abused Keith last Sunday.

I believe that Ovechkin didn’t want to hurt Campbell. I also believe that Paul Kariya doesn’t intend to hurt anybody when he uses his stick carelessly. In fact, a large percentage of league suspensions probably deals with players who didn’t intend to really hurt another player. The fact is though that AO was reckless and he needs to learn that his actions have concequences. Maybe he’ll ride the next player into the boards next time and actually check him instead of giving him a lazy push. And I don’t blame Campbell. If I was him, I be ticked off and wouldn’t want to hear from him either.

1. Heading towards the boards, Campbell looked over his shoulder and saw Ovechkin coming with speed.

2. Campbell is very familiar with Ovechin having played against him while in Buffalo.

3. Campbell made the decision and braced for the impact of Ovechkin but BC’s skate came off the ice and threw him off balance.

4. Campbell is aware that Ovechkin is known to be reckless.

Yes, Ovechkin was reckless but when you are headed towards the boards with that much speed and someone is bearing down on you fast, you need to trust in your abilities, equipment and knowledge of ice conditions.

He knew what was coming so… What failed Brian Campbell?

Is He really upset with Ovechkin?

Accept…don’t accept.  That’s fine.

Chicago losing him probably won’t hurt their chances at all.  Just a few less “Spin-O-Ramas” is all.

And everyone is also aware that Campbell is easier to knock over than an Olsen twin in a hurricane…

Yes, but if Ovechkin rides him into the boards instead of shoving him (as Campbell suggested) Campbell’s season’s not over.
