here we come!
This suspension is so laughable in so many ways. it just shows you how horrible this league is getting. If a player like briere can get suspended, it shows you what kind of direction this league is going. Dont worry, league wont exist in couple of years.

Wow, that was dirty!
Interesting that it took less time for the league to suspend Briere than Laraque.
I wonder if Briere got to “argue his case” the way Laraque did…

Really?
So a player should be allowed to jump up and crosscheck another player in the face.
Um…are you retarded? I mean, seriously…are you?

no, sorry to disappoint you. There are several examples similar type hits that where given out and players weren’t suspended.

I’ll handed to colly for following at his suspension flow chart

Do tell.
Also, nice flow chart.
But.
He jumped off his feet, blatatantly, and crosschecked a guy in the face.
Please…PLEASE present an argument against suspension.
Pretty please?

Oh. And it was after the play was over.
Please, present an argument.

Sp4r7an, I did a moderate search for one, couldn’t find it.

the hit was a split second thing where Hannan moved at the last second and caught the stick and Looks like he joust bounced off him. run it again in real time. The refs EVER called a penalty on Briere. it’s laughable suspension because the league are correcting the refs inwhich it’s turning a 2 min charging call into 2 games.

if you go to the tsn recap from last night— http://watch.tsn.ca/nhl/clip238534#clip238534—you can see the hit at the :40 second mark.
basically hannan scores a goal off a nice steal and feed by stastny. one second after hannan shoots and scores briere blatantly jumps up and throws a nice crosscheck to hannan’s neck region. hannan didn’t return to the game and briere gets suspended two games. i’m cool with that.

Garth, please realize you’re talking to a Flyers fan here.
Also take into account this remark: ”If a player like briere can get suspended, it shows you what kind of direction this league is going. Dont worry, league wont exist in couple of years.”

Briere throws a questionable crosscheck that results in absolutely zero damage to the other player = 2 game suspension.
Laroque deliberately lays a knee-on-knee hit that results in a four-week to eight-week injury = 5 game suspension.
The conclusion we can draw from this is that, in order to get a 10-game suspension, a player will have to physically remove an opposing player’s head.
The other thing we know is this: Colin Campbell’s IQ = 68.
Like Lil’ Gary himself, this league is rapidly becoming a fricking joke.

the hits briere and powe experienced last friday vs sharks was 10x worst than that hit. where was the league last week? sadly that flow chart really does represent how the tagged hockey league is runned.

Really?
Briere caught a jumping cross check to the neck? After the play? Using a hockey stick as a weapon at that point with the intent to injure?
Something tells me if someone hit Briere that hard he would be out cold. He isn’t the biggest fellow on the ice.
I will admit, the Laraque suspension is short compared with what Briere got but here’s the difference that I think influenced the judges.
Briere used his stick. It was a weapon. Jumped into it. His skates didn’t leave the ice due to momentum. He wanted Hannan’s neck. It was very intentional. Hannan just scored. It was unsportsmanlike. It was after the play when Hannan wasn’t expecting a cheap shot.

The culture of the Flyers remains the same, despite the talent level they have. If you watch their games with any regularity you’ll see blatant cheap shots after whistles all the time. This hit was a little worse than most with the jump and stick, but the Flyers breed this stuff in their players. Its also why they continue to get guys like Hartnell and Carcillo who are as cheap as they come.

What a joke. I can’t believe that even registered as a possible candidate for suspension.
LOVE the flowchart, FlyersFan, wtg.

Jesus CHRIST, you’re kidding, right? I understand the Flyers fan not giving a shit about his piece of shit players doing something like that, but I can’t believe a guy who would wear a Red Wings jersey would be such a tool…

A jumping stick to the neck cross check shouldn’t register as a candidate for suspension?
This is a joke right? You know if Hannan took that stick to the front of the throat it could have killed him, or at least made an emergency tracheotomy necessary right?
I guess if Lidstrom took a stick like that you would be ok from what you said? No suspension warranted?
Something tells me the Red Wing nation would be screaming for a lifetime ban.

Thanks for the video. Wanted to see it. Looked like a flying elbo. Suspention earned.

Yikes. Saw another angle, and I agree. I retract my previous statement.

Oh! This one surprised me in that good way.
Briere’s been getting away with that stuff for a while. He’s one of those rats out there that come out of the wall when everyone’s backs are turned to him.
