“We’re in on a couple of things, but there hasn’t been much traction during the Olympic break,” said Chiarelli. “Talks have picked up. It’s not idle chatter. There have been more substantive discussions. But at the end of the day, you can’t do a deal until (today).”
As Chiarelli pointed out, you only have to look at his team’s statistics to know what’s on his wish list.
“We’d want to get some type of top-nine forward that has an offensive bent to his game,” Chiarelli said. “But there aren’t many of those guys out there.”
