From TSN,
According to Ottawa Senators General Manager and head coach Bryan Murray, Ray Emery’s tenure in the Nation’s capital is likely over.
The Senator’s top brass met with the media Friday to wrap up what turned out to be a disappointing season. When the subject of Emery was raised, Murray made his position clear.
“My plan is not to have him back,” Murray told reporters.
Team owner Eugene Melnyk, who was part of the press conference refused to comment on the Emery situation.
Update 5:05pm ET -- Updates added to that TSN story link:
Murray also said he was not about to trade Jason Spezza or Dany Heatley, saying the team made a commitment to those players being part of the team’s core group. He acknowledged that both had poor playoffs and were spoken to about it on Thursday, but added, “I’m not going to discard players like these two people.”

Emory’s commitment to the team over the last year has been dismal. Emory could’ve handled his mistreatments and negative attention a little better.
I hate to say it but let’s face it… If Ray Emory was a small town good ole’ white Canadian farm boy from Alberta many of his mid-season antics would’ve been dealt with differently by team management and the local Ottawa media and none of us in the general public would’ve been made aware. Dressing room problems would’ve been minimal… life would’ve carried on in Ottawa and the Senators would’ve at least made it out of the first round of the playoffs with Ray as their solid choice in net.
I’m sure there’s a team out there that will pick up this truly gifted player.
Emory’s skills set, personality and unique characteristics definitely makes him a marketable commodity that the NHL should be relishing in.... a much needed relief from the boring personalities we are currently seeing in the NHL. In the NBA such flamboyant behavior is celebrated and marketed. This was just another missed opportunity by the NHL to market their diminishing game to younger audiences, minorities, and the much sought after American market.
A change of scenery is needed for Emory. Any American team looking for a solid goalie and to market their product to untapped demographics will love having Ray around. Baggy jeans, flashy hummers, goalie mask art, and being late for practice (aren’t we all late once in a while) would never appear on the front page of a legitimate Newspaper in any other market. Its obvious Ottawa isn’t ready for Ray Emory’s “cultural differences” and the baggy jeans and flashy hummers that come along with them…. This brings to question…. If Emory is gone who will the Ottawa police have to harass and who will the Ottawa Senators blame for all their problems?
