Buying Into The NHL

from Allan Maki of the Globe and Mail,
But despite the NHL’s many troubles — the rapidly escalating salaries, the lack of new revenue streams, the lack of a major U.S. television agreement — people are buying into commissioner Gary Bettman’s show. Not only that, they’re paying more and more money to do so....
This is all very strange. How can franchise values be going up at a time when the NHL looks to be struggling all over again?

Right on the money, canesice - the franchise owners, and the people buying those teams, are most familiar with the overall state of the league. Columnists who zero in on TV ratings are missing the bigger picture.

Who is stupid enough to buy into Bettman’s show?!! Apparently the owners… why don’t they all grow a pair and fire his butt and hire a real businessman who cares and knows about hockey?!

I guess maybe the writers should try to write something hard, like a positive article. Obviously if the salaries keep rising, and the revenue keeps increasing, this means fans are buying. Why not report on the positive, instead of “how can this be?”
